Thats a wrap!

I have been pretty busy lately getting the next game we are working on up and running so sorry for the lack of communication everyone. We still have a lot of work to do but I think I am finally getting my head around this thing. Not that I fully understand it yet, because I am far from that, but I have made some good progress.

We had the God of War II wrap party on Friday, which was a freaking blast. The team was on the tail end of their breaks and it was good to see everyone from the team enjoying themselves even if it was under somewhat inebriated circumstances near the end of the evening. We got the first week sales numbers which were pretty freaking amazing. It is very strange to work on a game that outsells most of my other games in the first week. I still look back on the game and nit-pick several things about it but overall I am very happy with what we ended up with. It is a little sad to reach the end of God of War 2, but also very liverating to know that we are comeltely done with it and people are digging it. Though to be honest I did stop looking at reviews recently since I am so swamped with work and reading them just puts me into a nit-pick mood again.

Also sorry about that whole website confusion…we had some silly routing issues that were never checked out and a bunch of stuff got screwed up. My bad on that one folks. I am proud to see someone who follows this site found the secret first…though I am bummed that it was all messed up when you found it (edit.) GodModeGod. (Sorry..my bad!) Stay tuned for the reveal of what it is all about.

Thank you again for all the kind words and feedback about the game. I have finally caught up on everything and rather than respond in a bunch of comments I thought I would just write a post. The European version will have two different SKU’s, unfortunately the US version is the only single two-disc version. If you want both discs you will need to get the two disc edition in Europe. I have put some calls in about the PAL demo and when I get it I will be sending it out to everyone who is on the PAL list.

Let’s see what else is new…sadly not too much. Prepping for the next game is taking up almost all of my free time. I did get to pick up S.T.A.L.K.E.R this weekend but it took me forever to get it up and running. You know, as much as I dig playing PC games I think I am going to cut down on the number of PC games I play. It seems that I usually spend a day or so just trying to get the damn things running. Then I find out that my machine is unser spec for the game to run smoothly with at least some of the cool looking options on so I end up thinking about an upgrade. No good. I think I will be sticking to console games for awhile since it is just easier. I will say that the drama I had with S.TA.L.K.E.R was mostly due to my own machine though. The CPU kept overheating when I was trying to install it. I needed to open up the box and clean it out…then it worked like a charm. That is until I loaded up a game and realized that I have to turn almost all the options either off or really low just to get a decent frame rate. Boo for that. But I spent some time tinkering and found a somewhat happy medium…total time from opening the box to actually playing…6 hours. Not too much fun. I start lacing up the boxing gloves when it gets that 'unfun' :)

This is not to say “GOW developer gets a PC game, gets disappointed” or anything. Because that is so comepltely not true. I just don’t have the time like I used to spend fiddling with things just to get a game to run.

I have been playing a little bit of Dawn of Sorrow on my DS as well…I really like that game. Sometimes Castlevania games are hard for me to get in to right away, which cause me to stop playing. But I always end up picking them up again and finding that groove. I found that groove on the plane back from GDC. I got to a point in the game that had me thinking about what free time I can steal to sit down and play some more. That is definitely the sign of a good game to me.

I am still not playing much of my Wii though. I went back to Trauma Center and tried making sure the lighting in the room was solid...it did feel better, but I still suck at it. The DS version was more about the fun...this one feels like it is just harder. I got a lot further into the game but there was a point that I just stopped. I might go back to it, but that game was kicking my ass. I haven't had as much time over my 'mini-vacation' to play the new Zelda, which bums me out. I want to see all the cool things people keep talking about. Maybe I will do that tonight?

We got our copies of the soundtrack CD today so that was cool. I have been listening to the master recording they sent me when we were in production so it will be nice to finally have a real CD.

I just realized that this is my first official post about the next game I am working on…crazy. It is definitely good to have that first one out of the way, but going on to a new piece of hardware kind of makes me feel like I am hitting the reset button all over again. Which may be a good thing since I think it makes me work twice as hard, which in turn makes the game that much better!

So there you go. Hope all is well with everyone and you are enjoying the game!

Cory

It's all good, Cory. My life is so hectic right now, that was the least of my worries. It's going to be my Spring Break when the count-down ends, so I'll be up waiting for it. Yeah, the thing that makes it hard to get the combos that high is that after playing on God and Titan Mode, I get so used to blocking, that I go to hit L2 to block, but when in Rage Of The Titans Mode, hitting L2 does that huge fucking tornado thing, which takes all of the combo hits away, that kept me from getting that high a lot. Did you read my little mini-review type thing that I posted as a comment on your last post? If not, you should go check it out, it's fairly close to the end of the 275 comments you have. You seem to generate around 100-300 every post. That's crazy.

Anyway, it would be really awesome if you downloaded X-Fire, and e-mailed your name to me. It seems like it's been forever since you've been on WoW. I think the last time you were on, my human paladin was about 25, now he's 37. I'm working like shit to get to 40, a mount sounds really nice, and as a paladin (just as warlocks do) I get my mount nearly free compared to all of the other classes.

I meant L1 for blocking...

Anyway, I need to go to bed, I have to get up at 6 on average to catch the bus. Man, that really shows the quality of our government's forced public education system, eh? I won't get into that unless you really want to hear my huge opinion on it, though... Haha...

I can't wait to hear what you new project is. I hope it's good. Calling All Cars was an interesting move for David Jaffe, but I won't complain, because that's what he wanted to do. So, that's what he should do. It's just that, that kind of game really isn't my kind. Not that I wouldn't have fun, it's just that I really love immersing myself in the experience, that's probably why I love God OF War so much. Great story, characters, setting, it all comes together to create a fucking awesomely epic and immersing game. Anyway, I'm going to bed...

It's good to hear from you, Cory!

Since it's nearly impossible to tell you how I feel about the game without being lame and repetitive, let's just say that all the hard work you guys put into the game paid off, and then some.

God of War I built a huge fanbase, pushed the PS2 as far as it could go, ended with Kratos becoming a god, and seemed pretty much impossible to exceed in quality. Starting out under these circumstances must have been pretty hectic; it's awesome to see that you guys pulled through and trumped the first game. Thanks for all the hard work, and congratulations on delivering a real masterwork as a directorial debut!

Cheers!
-Chris

PS: I got to see SpikeTV's GameHead God of War II special on GameTrailers. It's funny how they show clips of you and Dave talking about the brutal finishing moves, and then they don't even show them. They just show the parts before and after (like with Theseus' door finish and the cyclops eyeball rip). Stupid TV.

Why is it that I find the damn thing and Devin gets mentioned? There is no other video of this occurance and I was first to report it.

~Damnit Cory I spent 12 hours making that video possible and you did not say my name: GodModeGOD

GodModeGOD got pwned by Cory.. AGAIN! First by giving him a site that doesn't work after 12 hours of sitting in front of the TV, second by totally butchering the credit. LOL!

Cory, you make me laugh... and EVERYBODY knows it's GoW3 so you might as well say it! Here we go again!!

I am a little bummed I won't be getting the second disc, but I can look past that.

GMG,
Let it go. Jesus christ. I personally thought the video was stupid, and the music was even worse, and you seem proud of it? Get the fuck out of here.

Cory,
Is it true the real CD soundtrack is coming out April 10th? I bought the soundtrack off iTunes, and I love it. I'm bummed that a few songs in the game didn't get added (like the actual Zeus battle theme) but whatever. Still great regardless.

Hey yo Cory,
what up man? From what you've wrote, I see that you've been a busy "Party Animal" and I hope you had fun, eh.....

Since the GOW2 project is done and hopefully you have some free time to answer some questions for us dude. You said that you're working on the next project, right? Does that mean you're working on GOW3 or what? What's the story with GOW3 this time? Is it going to related with GOW1 and GOW2? Is either you or Dave Jaffe going to be the director of GOW3 or what?

I played GOW2 a bazillion time already and I liked it, but still there were missing point in it, like why Kratos did not confront Zeus about why he abandoned him when he was a child? Hercules wasn't in the game at all? When the game started Athena's Blades had the pretty golden/blue looking color, right? Why did they changed it as you progress in the game for? To tell you the truth I maxed it out 1st just to see if it was the same and it was a let down, it did look just like the Blades of Chaos.

I heard rumors that there's going to be a Special Edition of GOW2, is that true? The commercial on TV was not accurate at all, because what it showed was not in the game at all. To tell you the truth we would like to have a Special Edition of GOW1/GOW2 blended together for the PS2 because those deleted levels looked much better than the ones in the final game though and it seemed to be a gap in the World of GOW as well.

As for the GOW movie tell those peoples in Holywood it should not be a live movie at all because it would ruined the legacy of the game, GOW movie should and must be a CGI/FMV movie and not a live action movie at all.

R.Bunk said...

Cory,

While I was a bit sceptical when I first heard Jaffe would not be directing GoW2, but honestly I had high expectations and GoW2 exceeded them.

You had some big shoes to fill and you and your team did an excellent job. I can't wait to see what is done with a PS3 version of GoW.

- RICH

BTW: I consider God Of War the original and only GoW, Cliffy can come up with his OWN Abbreviation!

Anonymous said...

Yo, whats up Cory. The names Joel, and just wanted to tell you that I loved the first GoW to death. And am now in love with GoW2. How you guys do it is beyond me. I remeber calling my friend right after I completed the first GoW waaaaaaaaay back in early 2005 to discribe the epicness of the ending.

I was like "Dawg, Kratos is the new God of War, at the end you have to run up the stairs and sit on the throne". I told him about the "Secret Moview" and explained how there might be a sequel. I remember his response like it was yesterday. He said "Theres noway they'll be able to top the first one, not trying to be negative but you can't top something like that, you can only ruin it".

I brought GoW2 over to his house a few days ago, and offered him some ketchup for him to eat his words. He was in awe the whole time "I" was playing(He was playing WoW as I was play GoW2, but he was still paying close attention, I made sure to call his attention at the crucial moments, like Zues' betrayal, the Pegasues ride, and ofcorse the battle with the Colossus).

As I said I love this damn game, but have a few questions. In the Spoilers section of the DVD, you said that the "Secret Movie" in the first game were not 100% accurate. Does this mean that Kratos brother doesn't exist, or was he a story experiment. I hope he does still exist, I REALLY like the idea of Kratos haveing a brother. I stretches his character more.

Also, at the end of GoW2 Kratos has the ability to control time. I know its early but you guys had to plan ahead when you wrote this right. What I wanted to know was, do you plan to carry this story on to the next game. In GoW3 will Kratos have the ability to control time, is this what they meant when they said Kratos would bring the destruction of all.

Thats all I wanted to know, I know your busy so take your time. Thanks again for the amazing gaming experience........

P.S., just wanted to add that if its "confidential" information, I don't want you to get in trouble. But if you can, I'd appreciate it, thanks again in advance.....

Cory,

Sent you and your folks a thanks for the game and the inclusion on the extras DVD. There's something to playing GOW 2 on a monster screen.

I'm one of the few that actually loves game soundtracks and think can totally break a great game so I'm stoked to get the GOW 2 soundtrack because the music is just fantastic.

Now, where do we get our GOW 2 schwag? There has to be t-shirts, mugs, lunch boxes and other stuff right?

I just finished playing God of War II recently the first time through on God mode.

I do have a few concerns about the game. I would like to know where I can say what they are, as this place seems inappropriate.

On another note, I was more thrilled at the appearance of the Sea Captain from the first game than the Barbarian King. I feel sorry for the guy, yet it ends up being hilarious.

Maybe in God of War 3, you could have an item or magic that summons only him, and he could be a decoy. If your low on health, you could grab and kill him, giving you health orbs depending on how much more damage he can take. You could even have him utter some phrases that show his displeasure at being endlessly tormented.

If you do use that idea, could you include me in the credits as a special thanks? It doesn't matter if you do, so long as the guy is in there in the way I described.

I do hope that guy gets a happy ending though. He definitely deserves one.

Thanks for a great game!

Anonymous said...

i laughed when i seen the sea captain lol. i dont want him gettin a happy ending though. i want him to be tormented forever HAHAHHAH.

Cerebreus said...

So, would anyone else like to see the Sea Captain return as a character summoned by Kratos who could distract enemies and, if Kratos is low on Health, grab and then kill the Sea Captain (again) to get Health orbs (depending on how much health he has left)?

You can then resummon him to have him be killed again, with him yelling out different phrases concerning his displeasure at being endlessly tormented.

Upgrades could have him give more health when killed by Kratos grabbing him (he gave health when grabbed during the Barbarian King fight) and him being able to take more damage, maybe even something that makes him even more irressistable for enemies to kill?

I said earlier I would like this guy to have a happy ending. Maybe Kratos gives him one at the end of his last adventure for all the guy has been through (especially if he is used as a spell) and as a way to convince the guy to help Kratos.

So, what do you all say to that? I came up with this idea, and I believe I am the first. I would like credit for it, but even if I don't get credit, I would still like to see him used as the way I described above.

Thoughts?

Hey, Cory, way to a go on God of War 2!!! At first after playing the first few levels of it, I had a few criticisms on it and felt that it could not top God of War 1. However as I reached the halfway point of the video game most of my initial criticisms I had at the beginning of the game had been addressed and resolved by the middle levels of the game. God of War 2 tops God of War 1 in virtually every aspect. God of War 2 is a monumental epic experience the likes of which I have never felt before in a video game. It feels like a movie on steroids. God of War 2 is a piece of art and a cinematic experience that rivals and surpasses some of the best Oscar movies of all time. Have video games replaced movies as the primary form of entertainment? Are video games the new movies? After playing and beating God of War 2, I unequivocally say “yes” to both questions!

!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!

There are a few remarks of importance though that I a must mention.

In a God of War 1 interview, David Jaffe mentioned that he had an idea for a level involving the Phoenix as a boss with baby chicks. While playing God of War 2 I became surprised when I realized that this excellent concept is not in the new game. I became further shocked when I found out that the Phoenix is in God of War 2 but not as a boss. I love it that you put the Phoenix and the role that it plays in God of War 2, but I would have liked to have had the concept of the Phoenix as a boss as stated by Jaffe implemented. I hope that you will do this for a future game.
However, the big thing that was missing in this game that I expected is a battle with Hercules. I even found out that you hired a voice actor to play Hercules. Not having Hercules in God of War 2 does not detract from the gaming experience in any way, but since I found out about the voice actor I got my hopes up. Shame on you!!! Just kidding, but seriously man put Hercules in a future game.

In addition, I want some information about Hercules in God of War 3, if you do not want to put it in the game then put it in the instruction manual but put the information somewhere. I was surprised while playing God of War 2 that every time I came upon a Greek Hero except for Jason, no dialogue is present that presents the gamer with who these Greek Heroes really are. I expected Theseus to talk about being Poseidon’s son and Kratos to refer to Theseus killing the Minos Minotaur. Further, I thought that Kratos upon hearing Icarus’ name would say something like: “You flew too close to the sun, old man!” Lastly, I wish someone; either Perseus or Kratos would have said something about Perseus killing Medusa. Once more; if you do not or cannot put it in the game, at least put in the instruction manual.

I like the concept of the Skeleton Knight from God of War 1. A new skeleton enemy is a must. It would make a hell of a mini-boss or boss.

My one big critique about God of War 2 is the Rock Minotaur. After fighting the guy three times I just got annoyed by the guy. The Rock Minotaur until I fought his third variation just could not even really move. He could only throw rocks and spin around. His design looks all right, but he looks more like a rock than a Minotaur. Especially his legs and feet that just look anatomically and proportionally wrong. How he could even stand with those legs and feet. I would have liked it if he looked biological and less rocky. A better concept for this Minotaur would have been to have him be a Minotaur with rock armor over him similar to the King Minotaur from God of War 1. Next video game I would recommend a variety of Prince Minotaurs that are big Minotaurs but not as big as the King Minotaur from GOW 1 and they have armor on which blends in with their environment.

I disagree with your previous comments about in God of War 1 Hades and the last boss fight not being that good. Hades is a great level, I kept dying in that level, and I remember it fondly as a level of great challenge. I also like the last boss battle, Ares killed me several times, and while the boss battle is not as great as the other boss battles in God of War 1 it is still an amazing experience.

The one big thing that I was critical of in God of War 1 is Medusa. The boss fight against Medusa in God of War 1 is good but not great. Her character build is not special at all and she looks just like the standard Gorgon in the game other than for a peach and pink color scheme that I despise. Her animations are good but not as dynamic as they could have been. Is this because she is supposedly mortal unlike her sisters?

When I heard about her sister Euryale in God of War 2 I became ecstatic. I knew that you guys would not make the same mistake you made in God of War 1 but I had no idea that Euryale would be so engaging. When I finally got to play the big boss fight against Euryle I could not believe how great you guys had made it. I think it might very well be my favorite boss fight in the God of War games and maybe even my favorite boss fight of all time. The way she moves is horrifyingly realistic. Her animations are dynamic, diverse and instinctual. The battle against her is astounding and feels like a painting come to life. Even now in my mind the epic battle is being replayed on a loop cycle.

A while back I saw some footage of God of War 2 of Kratos leading his men into battle. After I finished God of War 2 I saw the spoilers in the bonus disc and found out that this footage is a lost levet. You said that the level was almost finished, but that you had to cut it out. Cory, you have to put that level back into the God of War series.

This is a story point. Someone mentioned this on another board about God of War 2. This person mentioned that since Kratos was not born yet how could he use his thread to go back in time to the Great War? I contend that Kratos was able to do this because Zeus is his father. Since without Zeus Kratos would not even exist then Kratos’ fate must be tied to Zeus and thus his thread also contains the events of his father as these events eventually lead up to the birth and the destiny of Kratos.
Since you are going to release a new game for PSP I hope that at some future point you release the PSP game for PS2 or PS3. I really want to play this game on my television with the sound turned up. Having the game on the PSP is a great experience, but it is just not the same experience as seeing it on your large television. If not I will have to get a Nyko accessory in order so that I can play the PSP game on television.

I noticed that in God of War 2 you changed the designs of Poseidon and Hades from God of War 1. In God of War 1 Poseidon looked much older and Hades looked like a monstrous demon while in God of War 2 they look much different. I hope that in a future game Poseidon and Hades have multiple forms like Ares and that as they get injured their forms change. So that then Poseidon in his other form ends up looking like an old man as he does so in God of War 1 and Hades in another form turns into the monstrous demon form from God of War 1. I know this is a minor quibble to you, but I and other fans of God of War really hope that you will do this as the forms of these two gods from God of War 1 are quite well liked and accepted.

Lastly, I know this is a drag but I have a few questions. How could Kratos bring the Titans to the future without the gods in the past knowing that the Titans were missing? Did the gods then think that the Titans were killed by the power of the Sword of Olympus? So that the gods will not find out about Kratos bringing the Titans to the future does this mean that Kratos has to eventually send then back in time to get defeated in the first Great War? Did Kratos bring all of the Titans to the future including Cronos, Typhon and Atlas, or did he only bring Gaia and a few others? Did he change the fates of the Titans? How has Gaia been communicating with Kratos? Is the Gaia communicating with Kratos the one in the past that he meets at the end of the game or is it another Gaia in the present? If it is Gaia in the present, is it the same Gaia of the past brought to some recent time in the present only that then Kratos had her guide his younger self so that his older self would then call upon the Titans to attack Mt. Olympus when the time was right?

I just finished GoW2 the other night, it was really good. I want to thank you for doing a good job on the sequel to my favorite console game of all time, and perhaps even topping it. You all at Santa Monica did an excellent job.

Only 1 problem; you got rid of Achille's flip!

On GODModeGOD's 999,999 hit YouTube video:

My roommate and I tried to see if we could improve the 12 hours it takes to get a million hits with 3 Titan Minotaurs. It turns out that using 6 Hades Juggernauts does the job about twice as fast, in something like 6 hours 10 minutes (extrapolated of course). Too bad you didn't spend a few minutes optimizing before taping the Square button down :-P

I'm curious to see what the first week numbers were for the game. GoW 2 and GoW 1, have been our 1&2 sellers since launch... CraZy! Turned out a lot of people we gave demos to, had never played the first game and so they came in and bought GoW1 and 2.

Now I am content. Thanks for the acknowledgement Cory. IGN, Kokaku and the other sites are of little concern to me..their recognition is sort of worthless by and large. I remember in the special features disc you had a lover of violence as a playtester.. You mentioned this type of person would be the strongest type of fan in the audience for God of War. This is correct..I am such a person. Violence is what I find most romantic in life oddly enough. You also followed up by saying these were the kind of people you and the team would be terrified to meet..especially in a dark alley to which I LOL'd

robyrt: I'd guess that using Fate Juggernauts would work better than the Hades versions but it likely wouldn't matter much seeing as Prometheus' Torment doesn't kill enemies very quickly.

On Titan mode, MY top five most aggreviating parts are;
5. Theseus and his endless waves (six total) of minotaurs.
4. The arms of Hades after being killed by Zeus. Keep in mind a few hits from them and you die.
3. Right before the West Auditorium where you fight several Cerebuses and gladiators.
2. Protecting the translator in The Auditorium of Lahkesis.

1. After getting over to the Palace of the Fates with the assistance of Atlas, getting bombarded with boarmen that call upon Cyclopes.

I need more details on how to beat those 2 bitches, Theseus and the Barbarian King were pricks too with his double swingings. Did any body beat those other modes like Challenge of the Titans, Arena of the Fates and so on....?

Are there any codes for Kratos to be invincible or anything like that? Is there a code for infinite lives, magics or something? Please post any link or any websites on how to beat GOW2 because my frustration in way up here.

first off Much respect but trust me, it is titan mode. The method or strategy is; slowing down time cause lahkesis do the same exact animation by firing or blasting at you, if you block immediately after using L1 n R1 you reflects it back at her its better if you see it but if you master this trick you can beat lahkesis without a single hit , i improve the fight with lahkesis beating her in a less than the previous fight but couldnt record it and use your atlas magic for the other sister, it make the battle much easier when she try to break the sword

SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH

The sisters of fate take time. When you're fighting Lakesis, and she's in the air, you should grapple when she's tossing things at you, then fly at her and L1 + O until she falls to the ground then bitch whip her. Repeat the process. Atropos is a lot easier to hold off. When she comes close, using a full powered Cronos' Rage works wonders.

Then the third round when you have to take them all on, just repeat the previous steps on Lakesis. She's your primary target. Worry about Antropos when you knock Lakesis out and you get to use her head as a relic for the Time of the Fates.

By the way, that video isn't Titan Mode. Look how he's got so many Red Orbs, and when he gets hit not a whole lot of damage is taken. My guess is it was on Spartan or God. Definitely not Titan though.

its titan mode rerun notics i only use normal kratos n max out blade trust me by using my strategy she wouldnt get a chance to fly hight in the air but adam its titan mode trust me and im going to redo it dp for you but the quality is going to be bad its bonus play everything is off meaning i use kratos with no special skills n only the blade which i would max out by then n atlas and only use cronos rage in the third encounter when she protecting the mirror

Yo Tucson,
what up man? Thanks for the info, but I do need more details on it and it's hard for me to do the L1 block thing in time and I see that you from Up Town the Boogie Down Bronx too, and it looked like you had some sort of beef with peoples in here about Dragon Ball Z and banging chicks, LLOOOLLLL....

I'm a big fan of DBZ too and I've Black chicks, White chicks, Mamie chicks, Philippino chicks all over Brooklyn. I've all the Dragon Ball Z series on DVD Uncut and they're not bootlegs either. I've seen that you told'em if they want to find you they had to come to the Bronx, you even gave them a street name address and shit like that.

Yo Tucson, what were you thinking man? Do you even know what's going on outhere these days? Where you from does not make you tough, bad boy at all man, I was born and raised in Crown Heights I've seen OG, Capos, Bloods, Cripts, Los Ninos Malos, La Costa Nostra, La Familia Siempre, Latin Kings.... get bitch slapped like nothing, it does not matter where you from at all Tucson.

The thing is, if they really want you they will find you when the least expected it. I'm sure you have heard about the guy that the NYPD shot 50 times in Queens, right? And they got away with it too, right? I'm not disrespecting you at all Tucson. Back in the days, when I was growing up in the Projects in Crown Heights and you know those PJ buildings have at least a good 25 floors, just imagine you lived on the 15th floor in those buildings and mother fuckers broke the elevators on purpose and you have to climb the stairs all day long for a week, if you had beef with somebody they will find you no matter what you do.

It's funny to see that I just moved out of NYC and them bitches still want to follow me. Speaking of Dragon Ball Z, I thought there would be at least a movie where Gokou made a wish to meet up with his father Bardock and meet all the other Saiyans as well, just imagine all of them turned into Super Saiyan and Gokou had to fight'em to prove that he's the strongest and most powerfull in the universe.

P.S: Where you from does not make you who you are at all, it's what you know and how well educated you are that makes a difference Tucson.

You guys in Europe are still waiting on GOW2 to be out, right?
I'm playing it on God Mode now and I kept dieing like crazy man... I guess you've read my comment above, right? Living in the ghetto is part of the government politic just to make COLD BLOODED CA$H.

Hey yo Mike, just ask yourself that question, when the COPS got a drug dealer with $50,000,000 and 2 tons of marijuana, what did they do with it? Some body got to make a profit out of it, right? That's why on every corners all you see is fast food places liquor places and you don't see shit like that in rich peoples neighborhood at all man.

As for living in a 25 floor story building and mother fuckers sabotaged the elevators on purpose and you had to climb those stairs up and down all day long for a week, that shit happened every day in NYC man and if you had beef with some body, they will find you no matter what you do.

P.S: When you get a chance go to www.youtube.com and type Chris Rock: Never Scared in the searching box, watch it and let me know what you think.

The last health upgrade chest is found at the second translator. the one that tries to kill himself. After you pull the statue of the fates down the hallway and use it. Then you can go back down the hallway to where the statue came from and there will be a large health chest there. The urn of Poseidon is found through the challenge of the titans mode. You have to receive a spartan ranking or better through all 7 challenges. If your talking about the last 2 costumes, then this is how you unlock them. The first one you'll have to collect 20 cyclops eyes to unlock. The second one you have to receive god ranking in challenge of the titans. I'm trying to remember where I got the last magic chest. When I do I'll post it if somebody else hasn't already.

Playing GOW2 can give you a serious headache and can make you throw the damn Controller on the floor or something, I'm playing GOW2 on God Mode and I'm still having a hard time, I finally got a hang of the L1 block thing to send it back at the sisters.

I hate the 6 wave parts before you open the door to Clotho and I don't see how I'm going to pass that level, did any body pass that level or what? I mean like those Fat Minotors, those Cyclops, those Medusas, those Sirens are something else.

Did anybody beat Zeus or what? GOW2 is good, but the difficulty level is way too much, I even had a hard time when I 1st played GOW2 on Easy Mode and I don't want to see how it is on Titan Mode and did any body beat GOW2 on Titan Mode or what? Any clues? Any hints? Any tricks? Any secret codes? Please let me know because I'm about to send the PS2 and GOW2 out through the window.

Yo Tucson,
What up man? How're things going in The Boogie Down Bronx? I just moved out from Brooklyn, NY to Harrisburg, PA and I can tell you it's 2 different world, I missed Brooklyn a lot, I missed them Puerto Rican bitches, I missed the food, I missed running up and down the stairs just to catch the (2), (3), (4) and (5) trains and it's way too slow for me in the PA. Dutch Country and you can count on your fingers how many Black Peoples who are living in Pennsylvania as well: (Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh) and when they saw a black person it's like they saw a ghost, they think you are going to rob them or something, the Media labeled us wrong.

Anyway, some women in PA love black dudes and of course I'm talking about the younger generation, but the older generation is too uptight and way too conservative, if you what I mean.

Hey Tucson,
you said: "Jeano you sucks man I started titan mode yesterday April 1st and BEAT IT today April 2nd with out even dying once and I think that I beat it less than 8 hour, 7:55 exactly and recieve Titan rank on Titan Mode.
Yeah of course im bragging beat that(anyone)

Tucson"

Good for you Tucson, you are indeed from The Boogie Down Town and only Bronx peoples talked that way. I re-beat GOW2 on Normal Mode in less time than that and of course I had all of my weapons maxed, magics maxed and life bar maxed as well and I did not die at all no even once, but like I said it was on Normal Mode though.

Now, I want you to prove yourself to us and you'll earn our RESPECT, after you beat God Mode to unlock Titan Mode, choose a new game, play it on Titan Mode and start from scratch with no weapons, no magics and no life upgrades at all, recorded with a digital camera, post it online and we will see how well are you doing then you can talk all the SHIT you want and we'll bow down to you Tucson.

Anonymous said...

Titan Mode is hardly the best challenge GoWII offers that is recognized widely. The No Update Run (NUR) of it is much more difficult..especially when you opt to skip all the health/magic upgrades. Cory said that he knew of someone who had done a NUR so I knew it wasn't impossible..just not easy. A guy called Shinobier has vids on YouTube of his progress through it. Like me he is currently at the Inner Sanctum "Endurance Run" just before Clotho.
~I'm having a great deal of trouble with it in my Titan Mode NUR *like Shinobier I have chosen not to use health/magic upgrades* 2 reasons:
1. I don't want to be topped knowingly as I go along.
2. I'm setting up for a regular Titan Mode NUR in Bonus Play as General Kratos (leveling Health/Magic as I go as if it were a regular run in Titan Mode)

NOTE: Titan Mode isn't easy at first but you get used to it. Most of the Titan Mode NUR is fairly challenging..consistently even. It will be VERY satsifying when I get through the "Endurance Run", PWN Clotho and get to fight Zeus under these restrictions.. I expect a long battle..I should probably play it safe but I know I won't keep that mentality long. Thusly I'll get killed a few times for "overreaching"..just like the Titans of Greek Mythology

I agree with you a 100% about making a CGI of God of War movie even with the latest special effects it will not look good at all. Even if they make a live GOW movie it would look too computerized.

That's one of the reasons I don't like The Lords of the Ring they made it too computerized and I don't see how they're going to make Kratos swing the blades, using magics and the Minautors, the Cyclops, the Medusas and the Undead Soldiers would look really fake and we would hate to see those bozos in Hollywood fuck up an excellent game like this.

Deadass son i did start the from scratch without any bonus, completely thats why it take me so long to beat it TITAN MODE NEW (7:55) no dying not even onces but i recieve GOD RANK my bad but if i did start it with bonus which i did i beat in 2 hours and something minute it just dont have a TV card or a decent camera to tape it its not hard just level up euryale to level 2 for Satyr, cyclop, cerberus breeders ect, I thank GMG about the hammer usage like for me when im fight my way to Clotho when i go to the gorgon n sirens when you reflects the gorgon freeze ray use the hammer L1 n triangle. Me personally playthrough Titan mode on new game i level up my blade, Euryale gaze, cronos and atlas the rest is at level one my best combo is square, triangle, triangle, trianggle the hammer work best against that fucking black Cursed Cerberus combine with titan rage + level 2 cronos go all out then some distant S,T,T,T. The Barbarian King is pretty easy, thats all for now cant think anything else but im sure everyone is good and have their own method to beat the game but if anyone want know my method feel free to ask. Yo what up Mike,
how're things going on in Amsterdam man? When you get a chance send me a picture or a link of them blonde bitches overthere or something.

A while ago, you asked about the ranking system in GOW2, right? I'm not sure how it works though, but from what I can understand it's all depend on how well you have played the game like: how long it took you to pass a level, how many times you killed Kratos, how many enemies you killed, how many combos you have used, how quick you beat the game as well, the list goes on and on and you can make some research to find out much more on it.

But I can tell you even playing GOW2 on Mortal Mode (Easy Mode) can be quite difficult, but the thing that makes God Mode and Titan Mode so crazy insane is they trippled up the amount of enemies in the game and when they hit you they took a big chunk out of your life bar and it took a lot more hit on them before you finally killed them and the enemies on God Mode and Titan Mode are smarter and faster than the other 2 levels as well.

I think the difficulty level set in GOW2 is much higher than GOW1 and sometimes can take the fun out of the game by slaming the PS2 controller on the floor. The other thing that makes GOW2 levels so hard is the enemies can ganged up on you, they can cornered you to beat you down and even if you rolled over to evade them, they still can kill you.

Depends on your rank, you can unlock more goodies like new costumes, new magics, you get to replace Cronos Rage with Poseidon Rage, it's fun to play GOW2 and I like it, but for some reasons I'm not into it like I was in GOW1 and there were a lot of good parts they showed up on the commercial that they deleted in the final game like there's a part that they cut where Kratos was flying on Pegaseus going to the Island of the Fates and he said "Nothing will stop me in my quest, I will have my vengence!!".

There were a lot of great deleted levels which looked much better than the ones that made it through the final game and that's why we would like to see and we hope there would be a Special Edition of GOW2 to play those deleted levels.

I liked the part when Kratos screamed "ZZEEEUUUUSSSSS!! Is this how you face me coward? I am through doing the bidding of the Gods, come down here and face me now Zeus".

Yo!! What up Mike,
I was checking out your web page and who is that chick in the room with the black couch behind it? Is that the girl you have met a while ago who is keeping you up busy all night long or what? She is good looking, you better get her pregnant and I kind of like those "C-Cup Size" of hers too LLOOOLLLL......

So, I saw a picture of you at the gym, does that mean you are a boxer or what? And you asked me "And Jeano do you have a PS3? And what are your thoughts on Ninja Gaiden Sigma? I had a good time with Ninja Gaiden for the XBOX, really great game. I beat it on Very Hard with not too much trouble :-) I am defenetly looking forward to the online scores for N.G. Sigma :-)"

To tell you the truth I do not have a PS3 yet, as you know there are 2 versions of PS3 and it cost $600 USD for the 60GB hard drive with wireless controllers and $500 USD for the 20GB hard drive and that price is way higher than what I am paying for my house and I will get a PS3 hopefully if Sony ever drop the price on it and to fully enjoy playing PS3, I would have to buy an HD-TV as well.

As for the Ninja Gaiden Sigma, I played it for a minute and back in the day when I had the regular Nintendo (NES) it took me a while to get through Ninja Gaiden. I played N.G. Sigma and N.G. Black at my cousin's house it is still hard as ever, it is a good game though, but I lost interest in it, sorry about that Mike.

Have you played those games on the PS2: MSG2, MSG3, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Tomb Raider Legend, Soul Reaver 2, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Contra: Shattered Soldiers, Neo Contra, Mega Man X8, Devil May Cry 3, Gran Turismo 4, Tekken 5, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Prince of Persia: The 2 Thrones and of course a classic is still a classic R-Type and Gradius V.

Does any one know have read the latest news about Metal Gear Solid 4? I heard Solid-Snake will die in MGS4 and I know that's his last mission and I would hate to see him gone just like that.

What's the deal with the young looking Solid-Snake they showed up in the game trailer? That's why I love those Japanese games, they kept their shit so secret for you not to know about it until the final game is out and Hideo Kojima can really fuck up with the gamers mind.

If any body knows anything about the latest on MGS4, please feel free to post a link or an article on it.

Jeano.

I've heard that this is the last MGS that will have the direct collaboration of Hideo Kojima, maybe because of this the snake from the "Les Enfantes Terrible" will die...

In my GK:TM:NUR (General Kratos Titan Mode No Update Run) I'm at the 1st Translator.

Because Shinobier and I have beaten the Titan Mode NUR..there are at least two who have done what you (Cory) said was done by a member of the GoWII team. Who was it?

~I just remembered way back when.. last year you released some photos from your camera and inadvertently showed a letter/note that had some boss info..I just thought back to it and realize that was for the Zeus final boss fight..lol. No wonder you were in a hurry to take that out when I mentioned it despite most of it being covered. I still have the image if you wish to see it "for the lulz".

It didn't work with either rage of titan or graping the hounds. I died so quickly. I guess I have to give it up there, cannot proceed if there is no help.

Thanks,

Anonymous said...

Go after the sorcerer's with the Barbarian Hammer (with Rage of the Titans on), while keeping an eye on the Translator. Try and make all the other guys follow you. If they don't, Cronos' Rage comes in handy.

Remember, only use Triangle triangle combos. Don't bother with Square.

fuck cronos rage use atlas quake it more efficience by get that far you should have level 3 atlas use square triangle*3 just using TTT make the combo kinda delay for a sec using s,t,t,t do some shit to the animation and faster and fluently trust me

Anonymous said...

I got atlas quake level 1 since I upgraded the blade of chaos to level 4. I'll tried some new moves to see what if I can progress.

Anonymous said...

my playthrough titan mode i have level 4 blade, eurayle level 2, cronos rage level 2, atlas quake level max and the others should be at level 1. Atlas quake is really good for groups or swarm of enemies. I personally think Cronos work best against zesus, Barbarian King, Cursed Cerberus, Euryale, skeletons, minotaurs, sirens and ect. Euryale gaze work best against cyclops, flying enemies, juggernauts, other undead soldier u stab in his back with his sword larger enemies especially when you going for the final sisters and to test my theory try arena of fate try all your magic on defferent variation of enemies and you find their weakness

Did any body beat GOW2 on Titan Mode or what? I'm playing it on Titan Mode now and I can not even beat the Soldiers of Rhodes on the 1st board and when you open the green chest it did not fill up the life bar at all. How am I supposed to play a game like this?

What the hell is up with this game in Titan Mode? I heard rumors that it's "Super Difficult" to play GOW2 on Titan Mode, but why they had to make it so damn impossible?

Cory just ruined the fun of the game for us and is there a trick to beat GOW2 on Titan Mode or what? Did any body play Challenge of the Titans or Arena of the Fate? Does any body have a secret code on how to beat those levels? Because the strategy game guide that I bought did not help me at all. I can not passed the 2nd challenge where you had to kill those enemies in the air, they just ganged up on Kratos and killed him.

I know it's a God of War game and it's not supposed to be easy, but this game built up a lot of rage in me already and made me throw the controller on the floor many times and next time I will throw the whole PS2 machine, the controller and the GOW2 game through out the window, this game is getting me on my last damn nerve and I've had enough with it.

(((((((((( CORY!! IS THIS HOW YOU FACE ME BY MAKING GOW2 SO DIFFICULT TO PLAY ON TITAN MODE COWARD, I AM THROUGH GETTING DEAD ALL THE TIME, COME DOWN HERE AND FACE ME NOW CORY!! ))))))))))

Where the hell is that Tucson guy? I finally beat GOW2 on God Mode and it was a let down to me that I just unlocked only 1 costume which is the black and yellow Kratos and I need 20 Cyclop eye balls and I already have 15 of them, that should unlock another costume, right?

Hey yo Tucson,
I know that you're having a good time on your spring break and I hope that you banged up that chick you're talking to already and when you get a chance I need you to give me some specific useful tips on how to beat GOW2 on Titan Mode.

I'm playing it on Titan Mode and I can not even beat the Soldier of Rhodes in the 1st level at all and how in the hell did you beat the Colossus, the Babarian King, the Fat Medusa, Perseus, Theseus, the Sisters of Fate, Zeus and shit....?

I love GOW2, but the difficulty setting is too much and when you get a chance I would like you to tell me step by step what did you do or what secret trick did you use to beat Challenge of the Titan and Arena of the Fate?

ffs now i read that its comming the 2th of may. CRAp!

elmojenkins said...

Hey Jeano, a good way to beat the "kill the enemies in the air" challenge is to first weaken them on the ground with cronus rage. Then hold L1 and hit x to do the Icarus lift. While you and the enemies are airborne hold L1 and o. That's how I beat it. With the weaker guys you don't even have to weaken them first.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes this game is like sh*t. In the translator level, the checkpoint is so far away it makes you to fight two rounds before you reach to the hardest part. This part kills you or the translator quickly and then you have to repeat the whole process again especially in Titan mode.
It likes in the first game where you have to find Kratos clones but worse it a way that the check point is so far away.
I think they should drop the protecting other people level in GoW3.

I agree with a lot of what you had to say in the interview Cory. I'm also shocked you're already working on the third game.

It'd be interesting if you somehow tied in Hercules with the final game. Made him the final boss. Kratos vs. Hercules. How fucking badass would that be? Both sons of Zeus (who he would obviously kill to piss off Hercules).

All I know is this game is going to be the sweetest game EVER created. Anybody who argues should do themself a favor and run into a large rusty nail headfirst.

What up Elmo,
thanks for the info and due to my busy schedule I haven't tried the trick yet, but it sounds good to me though.

Have you beat GOW2 on Titan Mode? Can you post some of the tricks that worked best for you or something? The translator level and the 6 waves section before you opened the door to Clotho are probably the worst in the game, the Babarian King and the Colossus aren't any different either.

Even when I used the L1 to block their attacks I still took some hit from the enemies which is a let down in the game and I hope Cory "The Balrog" Barlog learned something from making GOW games.

Does any body know if Sony Santa Monica is going to make GOW3 for sure? If they're making it, who's going to be the director? Is it Dave Jaffe or Cory Barlog? Since it's going to be the last chapter of the series, I want Dave Jaffe to be the director of GOW3 and does any one have any thoughts on it or what?

So Sorry if this has been covered already, but I just couldn't sift through it all.

First off I Love both GOW's and can't wait for #3.

I just recently bought the action figures which are AMAZING! I was looking at the blades it comes with and notice that they were pretty accurate, but something looked amiss from the second game.

This has nothing to do with colors of the blades (in the sequel his blades start off blue then go to yellow and red), but more with the contours of them. In the beginning of GOW2 they have a pretty deep curve in the under belly of the blade which looks awesome.

Sometime throughout the game the revert back to the jagged look. You can really get an Idea of what I am talking about if you stop to look at his back (where they sit) in the opening sequence. They make a half moon shape on both blades that meet in the middle. If you look on most of the art work from the boxes it isn't that way.

I know there is the BOA and BOC, but didn’t think they had that much of a difference in the blades.

Anyone have the answer?

Again the best way to tell the difference is to look at the cover art to GOW 1 and 2 (they are the same) and then in the opening fight(with the roman guards in GOW 2) when they blades are blue, stand Kratos near the camera and face away. You should see the hook like curve in the under belly of the blades.

Thanks.

Anonymous said...

So I figured out that the new Blades that are blue are his (what I call) "Divine Blades" which I would assume he either forged or had forged for himself. They are only present when in the God Armor in the begining and are then replaced when he Spoilers- returns from hades after speaking with Gia and being killed by Zeues.

But still it leaves other questions. Maybe they were Athena's Blades and just were affected by his Godly might ad then reverted back when he gave it up (most likely cause) or were they completely different and Gia gave him something?

It is something someone could answer, it takes alot to render thease blades and crews of people to make it happen. I couldn't be the only one who noticed the difference in the blade styles (besides the color). I would love to see someone answer these questions.

I do prefer the Divine Blades although it is trivial, I mean they work the same, just look a little cooler.
