Ok well maybe not dynomite exactly...but good times.
So sorry for the lack of updates everyone but I have been taking a hiatus from the computer as my break comes to a close. I have just finished up the last of the GDC (game developers conference) stuff and now I am chillin in my hotel room waiting to go to the Video Games live show tonight...which should be pretty freaking sweet. I have been wanting to make it out to the show for a year or so but have always been busy when the oppurtunity arose...but not this time baby!!!
GDC was ok...the lectures and roundtables still dissapoint me a bit...at least for design. They are all so general and really feel like lite version of talks. I never feel like I walk out of here with any new really useful info. but it is great to get a chance to chat with all the friends I haven't seen in so long due to my development hiburnation, so that works out nice.
I went to the Sony party on wednesday night and had a freaking great time. They had probably one of the best musical line ups that I have ever hear at a sony party. This amazing dj named Mike Relm did a wicked set that blew my mind...he did some video mixing that was linked to his scratching...totally amazing. I was totally spellbound for the whole set. He also had some wicked beat juggeling skills and a sweet song selection. They also had Cut Chemist come by and tear it up on the wheels of steel...which is always great. I have seen him a few times and everytime I am just blown away. then I drank a little too much...well maybe not then..it was more like the whole night. But I didn't get sick or get arrested...so it was a good night.
The launch event is coming up...we are doing that little shindig at the playstation store in SF at midnight on Tuesday...or is it called monday at midnight? Hmmm...not sure...it is basically the first few minutes of March 13th. Should be a good time, I am going to take photos and post them up when I get home.
Not too much else has happened...I am going to be doing the tourist thing here is SF over the weekend, checking out the sites. I really want to go see the rock...not the wrestler...the prison. I wnet there as kid but I don't remeber it much. I think I am going to head out to a party some of the 1up and EGM peeps are throwing as well. I think that will be fun, though I really need a vacation after this vacation...I am worn out.
No answer for y'all on the PAL demo situation...I havent been the office but I will find out what I can and let everyone know.

I know the things peoples said and what you saw on TV/Internet got you excited for you to get your hands on GOW2, right? And every body were excited as well and to tell you the truth all you see on the internet are all in the game.
After you beat the game a couple of times and you would be like "What the hell did they do to the game, is that it?" and be very disapointed, an example is Metal Gear Solid 1 was excellent and Metal Gear Solid 2 was just ok.

Speaking of GOW2, the excitement we had from GOW1 is not there in GOW2, back then there were not any games on the market that had the play style of GOW1 and that's why it was excited when we played it, no body knew about it either and there were not too many spoilers posted.
In GOW2, because there were too many spoilers posted on the internet before the game was out it ruined the fun of the game for us. There were a lot of exciting parts on the advertisements that did not make it through the game at all like when Kratos said "THIS ENDS NOW!!!!" did not make it through the final game.
Like I said before, there were some great levels much better than the ones that made it through the game got cut out and I don't know why. In other words, the GOW2 felt short and robbed.
Don't get me wrong though, the game play is excellent, the graphics are mind blowing, the puzzles are great, there are lots of bosses eventhough they did not have any life bars, so you don't know how close you are to beat'em and the story was ok.
The last battle was kind of cheesy, I mean like you're fighting with the King of Olympus and it should've been much more intense and bloody. There should have been a sort of catching up between Zeus and Kratos on why he abandoned him when he was a child and things like that.
Kratos was fighting the King of Olympus and he killed his daughter even though it looked like an accident then I thought the real battle was going to kicked in and to tell yo the battle Kratos vs Ares was a lot better.
Finally Mike, I liked GOW2 and I am not bashing it at all, but they missed out on the little things that would have made it much better. A lot of peoples liked GOW2, but they loved GOW1 much better that's the truth, I gave it a 9.0-9.25 and do not take my words for it just play the game and you be the judge for yourself.

wow, greatest game EVER!!! No one can get that many hits during the actual game, no one can even get to 10,000, there aren't enough enemies, and they don't take that many hits, so you have to do anything with that many hits in the arena, cause its not even close to possible during the actual game.
Actually... You can... If you're in the bonus play with the Urn of Prometheus turned on, then you hit combo won't go away, and it just keeps on going up.

Cory, you did a PERFECT job in GOW2. GOW2 is the best game that I have ever played. Seriously, great job. I just hope that GOW3 won't take too long to come out, because the ending of GOW2 makes me want a sequel NOW!

I'm an independent developer, just starting out, and I got a chance to meet and talk with David Jaffe on my first GDC ever. I got no grounds to compare this year's GDC with others, but it was definitely one of the best weeks I've ever had. The experience was insightful, exciting, inspirational and breathtaking. I can't wait for next year's.
Anyway, I just wanted to drop you a line and congratulate you (like the other 4 billion people in this blog) on an excellent job done with God of War II (before my reply disappears in this sea of comments). I became a follower of the series as soon as the first game was announced, and I'm currently playing the new release.
Man, it must be awesome to work for a game of that caliber. Thank you and the rest of the Santa Monica team for making such a kickass game.

God Of War II - Review - Devin Greer
Although my opinion may be a bit biased, because I've grown very attached to the God OF War series, I will try to make this as truthful as possible. The first God Of War... Man, when I first picked it up, I was amazed, and couldn't stop playing it. The same can be said for God OF War II. To keep this review as organized as possible, I'll try to put things into categories.
~Game-Play~
The aspect of game-play in God Of War II versus the game-play in the first game has come very far, if that could be possible. The ability to move around and strafe while you use certain magic abilities truly adds to the seamlessness of the game-play. You never really have to just stop and think about what you want to do and then sit there, leaving yourself available for an ass-raping. Also, context-sensitive moments in the game seem to be used a lot more, more so on the bosses and in epic moments of cut-scenes, but still, it makes it better. Putting those kind of things into game-play makes it much more satisfying than just watching it in a cut-scene. Although some of these are less satisfying and long-lasting as others. Early in the game, the ability to hop onto a Pegasus and take it into the air, for some tense aerial combat. This only happens twice, and although they are fun, they don't seem so... right... Like, just a little taste of what could be there. The swinging with the blades was also a lovely new addition, one that I can say I was happy for, as I am a fan of plat-formers. The swinging just provides some extra fun in the game, as well as the ability to make the level designs more complex. The best time this is used is in an about a minute long CS moment, where Kratos jumps from pillar, to pillar, in an array of epic style. Other than that, there's not anything too special to mention.
~Graphics~
The jump in graphics from God of War to God Of War II is amazing. Basically everything from every stand-point looks better, especially the texture detail on the characters. Although, if you couldn't fork out the $600 for the PS3, then your PS2 may have a few problems, such as screen-tearing, skipping, etc. But these aren't nearly enough to make the game a lesser experience for anyone. And although the much-loved CG cut-scenes from the first game are still here, they aren't as many. They seemed to go more toward in-game cut-scenes, except when it really mattered to take it into CG. And the awesome fading of said CG scenes has also disappeared, although this doesn't seem to matter as much.
~Sound~
The sound is great, and the orchestral soundtrack made for the game is purely great as well.
~Story~
In aspects of story, God Of War II feels like it falls a bit shorter than the original. Although the story went the way it seems it should have, and does a good job at it. The story found in the original is more entertaining and keeps you more interested. The second isn't so personal with Kratos, but ventures more into the roots of Greek Mythology and the stories behind the Titans and the Gods.
~The Rest~
The first game had all the extras a gamer could ever want, and God Of War II (yet again), kicks it up a notch. The extras DVD packs in so many extras, that it'll take you about 2 hours to watch them all, and they aren't boring. The Challenge of the Titans is great, it's nice to have a little challenge mode after the story. Bonus Play is also fun, giving the game tons of more replay value.
All in all, God Of War II is a better game than the first, and that's hard to believe possible. If you liked the first, then you'd be punishing yourself not to get this one. It is a truly amazing gaming experience and is there for us. Don't miss out on it.

Anonymous, I connect my PS3 using a wireless router. If you're doing the same and don't know how to make it work, then just reply in my blog with the issue and I'll see if I can help (There are already too many comments here to add ones that are off topic).
I do recommend checking the message boards over at the PlayStation page, though. Someone in there likely has had the same problem, and likely a bunch of people replied to them with the solution. Try it. It helped me fix scrolling lines on my TV and audio feedback when I hooked up my launch PS3.

Bottom line, this game wasn't made for the PS3, and it has a few glitches. He never told me about the graphics, though... I forgot to ask him about that.
Oh well, he'll answer when he gets here.

i played god of war 1 on the ps3, and i does not make graphical upgrades. altough it does look like it runs a little bit smoother :) but there also are some glithes, like in the beginning when he yells: beasts i will send you back to the depts of hades. on the ps3 he does not say anything!!! also the fire on the start screen is not 100% and a few more little things :( i hope they will fix that in the future.
